EMERGENCY DECLARATION: FREE OUR NEIGHBOR NOW

Socialists Without Borders (Socialistas Sin Fronteras)
San Francisco, February 14, 2026

Yesterday, Friday, February 13, Diamond Heights became the scene of state terror. An elderly nanny, a woman who has spent her life caring for the children of this city, was hunted down by ICE in a coordinated ambush. Agents in unmarked vehicles followed her, cornered her in a driveway, and seized her. With faces covered and acting with unjustifiable aggression, they refused to show a warrant or properly identify themselves before abducting her in front of her workplace.

The San Francisco Rapid Response Network has confirmed the brutality of this operation. Yet Mayor Daniel Lurie and the city establishment are attempting to downplay it as routine federal enforcement. There is nothing routine about masked agents kidnapping a worker in broad daylight. By allowing the abduction of a neighbor in our own backyards, local authorities become complicit in an act that has no moral or political legitimacy. We reject this complicity. We demand her immediate and unconditional release.

The 66-year-old woman has respectfully requested that her name and personal details remain private, citing concerns for her safety and peace of mind after the traumatic encounter with ICE agents.

Her attorney has filed a legal appeal. But we know that paperwork alone will not halt the deportation machine. ICE has already ignored initial release orders and transferred her to a detention facility in California City, nearly 300 miles away in the Mojave Desert. This is a private, for-profit prison operated by CoreCivic. The transfer is not incidental. It is a deliberate tactic to isolate her from her family, her legal defense, and the community fighting for her freedom. We cannot wait passively while our neighbors are disappeared into remote detention centers.

We call on every socialist organization, every community group, and every worker in this city to move beyond symbolic protest and into collective action.

We demand that the San Francisco Labor Council and all city unions fulfill their political responsibility to defend the entire working class, regardless of immigration status or union membership. The seizure of a grandmother on her way to work is an attack on all of us. It requires our full collective strength.

The time for statements has passed. We must mobilize, disrupt, and shut down business as usual until the terror ends and our neighbor is free.
