The ICE raids and the National Guard troops currently deployed in Los Angeles are a brutal attack on our communities, especially undocumented workers. ICE has arrested 118 people so far, including 44 on June 6, targeting workplaces such as Ambiance Apparel in the Fashion District and Home Depot stores in Paramount. These are our coworkers, neighbors, and family members. LAPD and federal agents used tear gas, stun grenades, and pepper spray against protesters. Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops, some of whom are now stationed at the Hall of Justice and other federal buildings.
Backed by the FBI, DEA, and Homeland Security Investigations, ICE carried out coordinated raids on garment factories, warehouses, and day labor centers across Los Angeles. Many detainees are being held in overcrowded conditions, with limited access to food, water, or legal counsel. Some of those detained are legal residents—proving that ICE’s mission is not about law enforcement, but about spreading fear. These raids are part of Trump’s federal plan to carry out 3,000 arrests per day nationwide, targeting workers in order to keep wages low and unions weak.
Hundreds have already responded, blocking ICE vans and confronting police and federal agents. David Huerta, a union leader, has been injured and arrested. Today, a mass rally is being called at LA City Hall to continue the fight against deportations, arrests, intimidation, and the anti-immigrant policies of this administration.
Let’s not forget: anti-immigrant policies have been enforced for decades under both Republican and Democratic administrations. The Democrats are not going to save us now! For nearly 40 years, there has been no immigration reform that would allow millions of undocumented workers to regularize their status—because the bipartisan regime of U.S. imperialism benefits from keeping these workers exploited, underpaid, and unprotected, all while they sustain entire industries for the benefit of the capitalist class.
Today, we salute the hundreds—and soon thousands—of Los Angeles residents who are taking to the streets to fight for power and will continue until our communities are safe, free to work, and guaranteed full equality.
- Remove the National Guard from LA streets: Troops don’t belong in our neighborhoods!
- Abolish ICE: ICE is a tool to terrorize workers. Shut it down, free all detainees, and stop deportations!
- Papers for all: Every worker deserves full legal status—including citizenship—no questions asked!
- Mobilize all workers: Call for an indefinite general strike until all deportations stop and no troops remain in our streets.
Let’s build a powerful immigrant movement—one that is politically independent from the Democratic Party. Let’s build our workers’ organizations. Let’s build national and international solidarity.
