STATEMENT FROM SOCIALISTS WIT HOUT BORDERS
Since October 7, 2023, the US-funded Israeli Occupation Forces have massacred more than 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza. The actual number of dead and injured is surely much higher, and the victim count rises every hour. As of this writing, over a million Palestinians are cornered in Rafah, with the Israeli Occupation Forces expected to intensify their murderous bombing campaign with an equally lethal ground invasion that will multiply the number of dead, injured, or expelled. Those who remain will be subjected to famine and diseases caused by the cutting off of supplies, water, and fuel for the past five months.
The only way to stop this massacre is to immediately halt US economic and military aid to Israel and its genocidal onslaught. And the only ones capable of doing this are the American workers. Only we, by paralyzing the streets and the economy through an indefinite general strike, will achieve a ceasefire.
We call on union members across the country to demand their unions and leaders urgently call for this general strike immediately, and for all unionized and non-unionized workers, documented or undocumented from all productive areas of the country to join this strike. Inviting students, pensioners, and oppressed communities in this country to join this strike. And if our unions do not listen to us, then there is no other choice, let’s organize it ourselves.
It is the government of the United States that arms Israel, it is the one that pays the salaries of the Israeli soldiers to massacre the Palestinian people! The workers of the United States are at a historical crossroads of continuing with our lives as if nothing is happening here, and letting thousands of Palestinians continue to be massacred and millions more continue to be displaced, or deciding to exercise our immense power and stop this madness. There is no one else, comrades, this time, there is no one else, only us, together, with a single blow, with a single strategy, the general strike.
